Pita Bread!

Nothing too exciting happening with us these days. We went to the izakaya next door last week for happy hour. The castanet (wooden clicking instrument) in the photo is how you get the waitstaff's attention. Sometimes there is a button to press and other times there are tamborines.

We were up for a little adventure, so we ordered something that we couldn't read and this is what we ended up with.

We're still not sure what it was, but it was very chewy tempura, probably octopus or clam or something along those lines.

Below is a random photo of a car we saw in a parking lot yesterday. Enough said.

This week we also made some hummus with our new $2 blender that we bought at the flea market on the U.S. base last weekend. We decided we should make pita bread to go with it. It turns out that it is really fun to make pita bread since it balloons while cooking it. See the video below.

Rose aroma

We've been busy working these days. Nate is now waiter master of the universe at the Macaroni Grill and Kris is finally getting papers published. Two papers so far, see the links below if you are interested.

Nate has a species named after him in the first paper! Leucothoe nathani White and Reimer, 2012a (photo below)

Here are a few photos of the last dive we did at Maeda. It has been a bit chilly and the seas are pretty rough in winter, so we haven't gotten in the water much.

In other news, we've accidentally bought Rosa Aroma toilet paper. If we would have read the name of it, we might have been smarter, but alas, the bathroom is now rose scented.
